When you support us, you uplift individuals and communities

We have been working with various soup kitchens around the Plettenberg Bay area and have been operating a mobile soup kitchen too. Over the Covid -19 lockdown the need for food expanded massively and we found ourselves collaborating with a broad volunteer base and many donors to upscale our efforts. We contributed to the delivery of 1,4 million meals over this time. Since then the volume of soup kitchens has decreased but the need for these kitchens is massive. Each soup kitchen has its own needs and its own possibilities. We are working to grow some into part time canteens that generate income on certain days and operate as soup kitchens on others. Our main focus in our feeding program is children and the elderly. We are volunteer based at phase one of all of our pillars with the intention to grow them into sustainable businesses where possible. We are already using food based reward incentives to inspire participation and developing our commercially sustainable structures as we learn from experience.

Milestones

  • March 2020

Not knowing how long and what type of journey this will be. As soon as lockdown was imposed, we started our mobile soup kitchen in Kranshoek. Rapidly we were not serving 30-50 children anymore. Every day we came to Kranshoek, more children came to our cars. The school was closed 2 weeks before lockdown, which means the school feeding scheme was closed too.

  • May 2019

We started our soup kitchen for Children in Kranshoek. Every Saturday we offered a warm meal to 30-50 children. There were always time to draw or play before the food was ready.
