When you support us, you uplift individuals and communities

Our Kids & Youth Club is a safe and joyful space where children can learn, grow, and simply be kids. Each week we welcome around 150–200 children and young people, offering them a place filled with creativity, play, learning, and a warm meal.

Through activities such as woodworking, needlework, knitting, baking, sports, and outdoor adventures, the children develop practical life skills, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. These activities help them discover their talents while building the foundations for brighter futures.

We are also proud to collaborate with the Fynbos Opportunity Centre, where together we helped establish the Kranshoek Scouts. The scouts program creates a wonderful environment for children to learn teamwork, responsibility, and leadership while enjoying outdoor activities, practical skills, and community service. It has been inspiring to see the older children guiding the younger ones and growing into confident young leaders.

Another meaningful collaboration is with Adopt a Swimmer, through which several children from our program are now learning to swim. Swimming is not only a vital life skill but also builds resilience, confidence, and joy in the water. Some of our swimmers have even taken the next step and joined the Nippers lifesaving training, where they continue to develop their swimming abilities, discipline, and teamwork while connecting with children from other communities.

Our vision is to create opportunities that allow children and youth to dream bigger, develop new skills, and discover their potential, while being supported by a caring and inspiring community.

Milestones

April 2023
Inspired by the energy and encouragement of our first community meeting, we launched an afternoon activity for children in Kranshoek with the help of local volunteers. We called it Kids Club. Every Friday, we opened the doors at the Community Development Center, where children could play, create arts and crafts, enjoy storytelling, and receive a warm meal. What began with 20 children on the very first day quickly grew to 100 kids every Friday after school—a place where they could simply be themselves, feel seen, heard, and loved for two magical hours.
June 2023
We launched our first Warm Winter Drive, and the generosity of the Plettenberg Bay community was overwhelming. Thanks to their support, every child went home with a cozy blanket to keep them warm. Every item of clothing we received went entirely to the children and their families, ensuring that care and comfort reached those who needed it most.
December 2023
There is nothing better in the world than a child’s smile.” This became our motto for the first Kids Club Christmas Party. We carefully planned pizzas, juices, Christmas cakes, fun games, and gift bags for 150 children—and, to our delight, every single child received something. No one was left out. It was a day of pure joy, laughter, and celebration—for both the children and our dedicated volunteers.
January 2024
Karen Dodson from the USA creates handmade dresses with love, using a variety of beautiful fabrics and sending them all around the world. We feel incredibly lucky to bring these dresses to South Africa, creating a little “shop” where the children could try them on and find the dress that felt just right for them. It was such a lovely, heartwarming experience, filled with smiles and excitement.
June 2024
This year’s Winter Drive was extra special thanks to the generosity of the community. We received old school jerseys and jackets from GBC, removed the school logos, and repurposed them for our People of Love kids. In addition, we were gifted toys and plenty of warm clothing, ensuring the children felt cared for and cozy. We are deeply grateful for this incredible support and the love shown by our community.
November 2024
We hosted another Christmas Party, this time even better prepared to welcome 200 children. The kids enjoyed games, face painting, and henna, while feasting on pizza, cool drinks, and Christmas cake. When it was time to meet Father Christmas, each child received a certificate and a bag filled with goodies—like a toothbrush and toothpaste, treats, and toys. It was a joyful celebration, and our love for the children of Kranshoek shone brighter than ever.
January 2025
We began a beautiful collaboration with the Kranshoek Women’s Forum, and we are deeply grateful for the five dedicated women who support our work. Each Friday afternoon, they help run the Kids Club and lovingly prepare meals for the community. With their involvement, we were able to introduce age groups for the children, creating space for more meaningful activities and learning. Together, we teach practical life skills that many children no longer learn at school—such as needlework, knitting, crocheting, and woodworking. These shared moments have transformed playtime into a space of creativity, learning, and empowerment for the children.
March 2025
New volunteers joined our Kids Club team, bringing fresh energy, fun, and valuable educational input for the children. With their help, woodworking quickly became a favorite activity, giving the kids the chance to create with their hands, learn practical skills, and discover the joy of building something of their own.
December 2025
Our fourth annual Christmas party was such a beautiful success. This year we welcome more than 250 children from the community for a joyful day filled with games, music, laughter, and shared meals—a moment where the children can simply play, celebrate, and feel the magic of the festive season together. Every child also receives a gift bag with useful items and sweet treats, bringing both practical support and a little festive joy to take home. For many families, this celebration has become a cherished highlight of the year—sharing warmth, kindness, and a strong sense of community.
